Simple steps to get followers on Twitter

To get followers, you need to follow groups of people that you like.

I started with people that I want to follow such as web designer, seo consultant, hotelier and etc.

What I notice that once you're following others, they will most probably follow you as well.

Just by using this method I got roughly 1000 peole within 6 weeks.

Please remember to ensure that your following/follower ratio is not much different, if you exceed the following/follower ratio too much, then twitter will limit your number of following, then you need to unfollow some of your following then only you can start following back.

Since the number is there already, contacts from my followers are following me as well. So now, I just follow back anyone who follows me.

One way of saying thanks to my followers.

Plus if you have interesting tweet you will get credits by your follower and they will recommend you in FollowFriday.

So the effects start to multiply.

Another method is to use trending topic keywords in some of your post.

For example, if the trending topic is #iranelection.

Use #iranelection in your tweets in a creative way to attract people to read your tweet. And if they like your tweet, they will follow you.

For example, last time I use "Forget about #iranelection, learn how to make money using your twitter".

Or

"Forget about #iranelection, use kasperksy antivirus to protect your pc from Internet threat".

You can think off better posts that I stated above.

If you use this trending topic, please don't use trending topic which can hurt others or sensitive to your followers

Another example, that I am using rigth now is that if the trending topic is "Harry Potter", search in hubpages interesting articles about Harry Potter and tweet it.

Just tweet the following post.

The more visible your are in the Twitter, the more followers you will get.

Not only that you want to build up your followers numbers, but most importantly to tweet interesting post in order to retain your followers.

Twitter is a powerful tool to get new contact and friends.

It's one of the most easiest platform to get followers, I have came across Grandma's with more than 13,000 and 20,000 follower :) Take your time and you will be there.

If one account is not enough for you, then create few accounts with pseudonyms just like me and start tweeting.

If I hit a limit, what should I do?

* If you've reached a daily limit, wait 24 hours (or one hour for API requests) and you'll be able to perform the action again.

* If you've reached a follow limit, you can help yourself by reducing your following number until it resembles your followers number. Since the follow limit is based on followers/following ratio rather than time, you'll have to un-follow people before you're able to follow again. Follow limits cannot be lifted by Support staff.

If I hit a follow limit, does it mean I'm considered a spammer?

No. Although aggressive following can be considered a spam tactic in some cases, Twitter does not use follow limiting to monitor spammers. Though follow limits do help with spam control, the limit itself improves site performance by ensuring that when we send a person's message to all of their followers, the sending of that message is meaningful. We believe that following 2000 people is a reasonable limit for the number of people an average person can follow.

Tips for avoiding follow limits

Twitter follow limits only kick in after unreciprocated follow attempts reach the thousands. Avoid hitting Twitter limits by not following aggressively-- if others see that you've tried to follow 500 people but only 12 are following you, they may not follow you back, and worse, they might block you.

Twitter is an opt-in community-- that is, you can follow who ever you want, but no one has to follow you back. If you use aggressive following tactics, no one will want to. Please note: follow limits are systematic. Support cannot remove follow limits.
