Putrajaya - City in the Garden
84To ease congestion in Kuala Lumpur, a new federal government administration site was searched in 1980s.
About 11 320 acres (46 km²) of land in Prang Besar was chosen as the site and the government purchased the land from the state of Selangor.
Development work started in August 1995 and it is targeted to be fully completed by 2015. With estimation cost of US 8.1 billion, it is one of the most expensive development project in South East Asia.
Developed based on the theme of “City in the Garden”, 38 % the land areas is reserved for green areas. Putrajaya has a lot of parks and open space areas. Plus, 1500 acres man made lake was incorporated into the city as it's principal landscape design.
Located between Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the city is well connected with the rest of the country with network of highways.
To go to Putrajaya from Kuala Lumpur, the fastest way to visit the city is to take take ERL Train at KL Sentral Station which transits at the Western Transportation Terminal in Precinct 7.
To get around the city, you could take Nadi Putra Bus or by taxi ( + 603-8888 4000 - 24 hours service).
